Teddy “Ted” Joe Dace
Teddy “Ted” Joe Dace, 79, Gardner, Kansas passed away Friday, June 21, 2019 at Olathe Hospice House. Graveside service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at Gardner Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home before the service. Ted was born October 16, 1939 to Ted and Ruth Helen (Pratt) Dace in St. Louis, Missouri. Ted grew up in the St. Louis area and graduated from Soldan High School. Ted served in the United States Navy. He married Betty Jean Hale in East St. Louis, Illinois on October 23, 1958. Ted worked for Xerox in Kansas City, Missouri for 19 years. He owned and operated the Santa Fe Trail BBQ restaurant in Olathe for 19 years, retiring in 2002. He also worked as a courier for Olathe Medical Center until 2018. Ted enjoyed fishing, bowling and traveling. He spent many hours working on jigsaw puzzles. For many years, Ted coached his sons’ baseball teams. Ted was known for playing music. Ted and Betty enjoyed playing Scrabble each day. He loved spending time with his family and attending activities involving his children and grandchildren.

Ted is survived by his sons: Rus (Pam) of Olathe, Kansas, John of Olathe, Kansas, Scott (Rebecca) of Olathe, Kansas, Corey (Michelle) of Gardner, Kansas and Steve (Angela) of Gardner, Kansas; grandchildren: Jennifer, Shannon, Laura, Heather, Eric, Sabrina, Zach, Ian, and Shanlii; great-grandchildren Olivia and Tenley and two on the way; sisters Jan Powers of Chesterfield, Missouri and Marsha (Tom) Henning of Ballwin, Missouri and brother Les (Pam) Dace of Surprise, Arizona.
