Obituary for George Edwin Lloyd

George Edwin Lloyd, 90, of Kansas City, KS passed away Aug. 3, 2019. Visitation 11:00 am Wed., Aug. 7, 2019 followed by a Funeral at 12 noon both at Bruce Funeral Home, 712 S. Webster, Spring Hill, KS (913) 592-2244. Burial follows at Miami Memorial Gardens, Paola, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation. George was born Nov. 13, 1928 in Hillsdale, KS to Clifford and Mildred (LaRosh) Lloyd. He grew up in Spring Hill where he graduated from Spring Hill High School in 1947. George served in the US Army from 1950-1953. He married Rosemary A. Vaughn on June 1, 1957 in Spring Hill, KS. They moved to Kansas City, KS in late 1958. George worked as a line worker for General Motors for thirty plus years; was a member of the UAW Local Union #31 and retired in 1983. He enjoyed fishing, playing pool, dancing and watching John Wayne films. George was a member of the United Methodist Church in Kansas City, KS and a member of the American Legion. He will be missed by family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Rosemary, in 1997; son, Darrell Lloyd; sister, Betty Kappelman and brother, Damon Lloyd. George is survived by his children: Daniel Lloyd, Kansas City, KS, Debra McGovern, Kansas City, MO, David Lloyd, Kansas City, KS and Dewayne Lloyd, Kansas City, KS; siblings: Merrill Lloyd, AZ and Claire Lloyd, IL and two grandchildren: Shuteh and Julien.
